I received this book as a gift
from a good friend of mine. Brand new copy, fresh pages with that sharp new
book scent. The second Dan Brown Book I have
received as a gift after I received Angels and Demons in 2014 and the third Dan
Brown book I have read after Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons.

Dan Brown did not disappoint in allowing
one to travel or be inspired to travel to iconic and historical places through
his comprehensive descriptions of locations like the Montserrat Mountain and
the Montserrat Monastery which is in the beginning of the book, opening with a
conversation between a rich futurist Edmund Kirsch and a group of religious
leaders.
Brown also takes one to the Museum
of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao where Brown’s protagonist Robert
Langdon makes his first appearance to attend Kirsch’s live stream on a great
discovery of the human race’s origin.
We are also taken from the Royal
Palace in Madrid, through the story of the Spanish Royal family and the secret
of Bishop Valdespino to the incredible Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia Cathedral and the Casa Mila
apartment .
Brown also does not disappoint in
pairing Langdon with a beautiful woman, this time, pairinf him with the museum
director, Ambra Vidal who is also the Spanish prince’s fianceé.
There are interesting twists and
turns in the book that will have you on the edge of your seat all the while and
I had my fair share of art, technology, symbology and religious lessons from
this book but well, for someone who loves Dan Brown and his theories, The
Origin was so underwhelming. I was expecting this mind blowing reveal about the
human race’s origin. The climax was a little tepid.
I do recommend the book though, especially Dan Brown fans who love his theories.
